The last day
Planet Gallifrey, City of Arcadia-Room
Little green pixels distort the image. It's fixed and we discover the instructor through the new soldier's eyes. He is wearing an outfit with the Seal of Rassilon. Again green pixels.
Instructor: Don't try to speak. If you can hear me, nod (The other soldier nods) When the headcam comes attached for the first time, your speak senses become a bit.. confused. You'll be fine in a bit. Do you want to try standing ? (The new soldier nods. The instructor helps him. Again green pixels) Oh, that's it ! You'll feel better in any seconds. What I'm doing now is fusion the greed with your neuroreceptors. (Again green pixels) Now, the head-cam is downloading directly inside your memory. A tiny part of your brain is now a hard drive. It takes apart hardly any space, you won't feel a thing. Now, at the beginning, sometimes.. there is side effects...
Flash : The instructor wears his safety helmet : his nose is bloody and he is frightened.
Futur instructor (screaming) : Run ! Everybody, just run !
Instructor: I know what the guys have been telling you. But trust me : there is no premonitions, ok ? Just side effects. Hallucinations. (Again green pixels) Ok. Take a look in the mirror : I'm going to show you how the fittings work. (The new soldier turns, but screams, frightened, when he sees his face is now a skeleton. He falls down) Wow wow ! It's an hallucination ! It's ok ! It's not real, not a premonition ! Do you listen to me ?
The headcam is cutted.
Corridor
Instructor : Ok. This is the official stuff. In the event of your death, your headcoms' memories will be stripped from your cerebral cortex, and uploaded to your family's drive. Anything gruesome or insuitable for children, like, actually dying for instance, will be tinted in red. There is a language filter, which will cut anytime you say..
The headcam is cutted because of the gruff word.
Sky-trenches
Instructor (to an other older soldier) : Edogar, this is he new guy. Don't scare him.
Commander Edogar : Do you know why you're safe up here ?
Instructor : Don't do the speech.
Commander Edogar : You said 'Don't scare him'.
Instructor : Speech is what scares people.
Commander Edogar : Almost nothing in the universe wan go through a sky-trench. Nothing in the history has gone throught two. Up there, they've got four hundreds of them (The new soldier looks the sky).
Instructor (smiling) : Welcome on Arcedia.
Commander Edogar :Safest place on Gallifrey ! That's not wr... (The headcam is cutted)
Defensive turret
Instructor : Ok. You take that one, I will take this one (speaking of scanners) He was right : nothing can get accros a sky trench. But if just one Dalek makes it throught, he could destroy this entire city. (While the instructor is speaking, the recruit moves the scanner through the sky.) That's all what it takes, one Dalek. One Dalek acting alone and we are finished. So you scan everything, clear ? Everything you see, you scan it. You see that little spot above there, a bird or something ? Pretend it's a Dalek. Zoom right here on that one, all the way it. (The recruit obeys) Use the vision stabilizer. Turn over one ten to ten plus … Finish the image's lock.. (It's a Dalek!) That's... That's not actually possible... Lock on to it.. Lock on ! That's not an hallucination ! That's real ! That's real ! Track it ! Track it wherever it goes ! (He gives the alert) One Dalek incoming ! I repeat, one dalek incoming ! (The alert sounds) Maximum alert !
But the recruit sees more on his screen...
New soldier : DALEKS incoming ! DALEKS incoming ! Daleks's attack ! Alert ! Alert !
The Dalek he zoomed on fires. The screen becomes red, then there are green pixels everywhere and we hear the soldier screaming.
